Barcodes have been around since 1974 and they are still going strong. It is a fact that barcodes are here to stay for a long while. You would think that by now, printing a good quality barcode should be the norm of any company who wants their products successfully scanned at the point of sales of any retail outlet. Well, unfortunately that is not the case.
All barcodes specifications are given by the GS1 organization, which is in charge of providing the guidelines by which a barcode is considered well printed. However, there are many companies that let their marketing department make all the decisions regarding the printing of their barcodes on their packages, and unfortunately they do not take into account the printing specifications needed for a successful read at the POS. In many cases, barcodes are printed with the wrong contrast, wrong colors, and in violation of many of the specifications mandated by GS1, resulting in poor readability at the retail store.
Before you send your product on its way to the supply chain, make sure that it is compliant with GS1 and that it meets the ISO/IEC 15426-1 standard using one of our barcode verifiers.
The Axicon 6015 barcode verifier is designed to verify small linear barcodes (with a maximum length, including quiet zones, of 66 mm) typically used on products scanned at the retail point-of-sale, or pharmaceutical products scanned at the point-of-care. These barcodes include EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 39, Code 128, HIBC, GS1 DataBar, GS1-128, CIP 39 and Laetus Pharmacode.
This verifier is perfect for product manufacturers, label printers, printers and packagers, and pre-press studios.
